I hadoften heard rumors that Frank Zappa & Jack Kirby were friendly, then about two years ago, I was reading an interview with Kirby wherehe made some oblique refrence to Zappa. Earlier tonight I happened to check out the comicboards & lo' n behold, I found this Zappa\Kirby photo! WOW!The head Mother of Invention with the Daddy of the Mother Box!

While we are on Zappa.... This is the ad that inspired the early Zappa\Beefheart song, Metal Man Has Won His Wings! As you can see it's Hawkman who has won his wings, but the ad here is taken from METAL MEN #7. You can get the whole lowdown here, on this excelent Zappa site!
